Why get a medical shower stool?
The bathroom is where the largest share of falls at home happen, especially among seniors. A shower stool is the simplest, most effective way to lower that risk. Unlike a costly built-in install, it is mobile, light, and ready to use right away.
It is for anyone who feels unsteady, has balance trouble, or tires easily. Sitting down to wash turns a moment that can feel tense into a calmer, safer one.
How to choose a shower stool
To stay safe and comfortable, let these practical points guide your choice at Tous Ergo:
- Seat size: Check that the stool width fits your body and still fits inside your shower. In a very tight space, choose a corner stool or a compact round model.
- Adjustable height: Most of our models have telescoping legs. For a sound fit, set the seat at the height of the crease behind your knee when you are standing.
- Maximum weight: Our standard models generally support up to 100 kg or 130 kg. For specific needs, look at our reinforced bariatric models.
- Stability: Every stool has non-slip rubber tips so it holds to the shower base, even when the surface is wet.
The different stools for bathing
Beyond the classic model, some versions are built for particular conditions or room layouts:
- Swivel stool: A rotating disk on the seat makes it much easier to turn without twisting your back.
- Folding stool: A good fit if you share the bathroom with someone who stands to shower, or if you want to pack it for travel.
- Wall-mounted stool: For a fixed seat that folds away (see our fold-down shower seats).
If you want back support so you can rest more fully, browse our full range, including the fixed shower chair with a backrest.
Setup and care
Setting up a shower stool for seniors takes no tools. Set it on a flat surface. For care, aluminum and corrosion-resistant plastic wipe clean with mild, non-abrasive household cleaners. For the full picture of bathroom seating, visit the parent category, shower stools and chairs.
